SHAKOPEE, Minn. — Valleyfair temporarily closed three of the park’s attractions Tuesday evening as water rose from the nearby Minnesota River.
The three attractions are Excalibur, Thunder Canyon and Renegade. Parking lots have also been affected by the flooding.
Most of the rest of the park is above the current projected river crest, park officials say. The Minnesota River is expected to peak sometime on Saturday and then take a few days to recede.
The overflow area in Canterbury will be open to Valleyfair guests. Free buses run to the park every 15-20 minutes. There is also an overflow area at Valleyfair, although only four-wheel drive vehicles are allowed to use this as it is on an unpaved grass area.

The floods of the past few days have affected almost everyone half of Minnesotaas rivers reach record highs in southern Minnesota. The raging waters of the Blue Earth River caused a partial failure of the 114-year-old Rapidan Dam, and the American Red Cross did just that setting up shelters across the state for the displaced.
