Van Nuy’s street racing accident leaves 2 people in critical condition, 2 others injured

Two men were left in critical condition and another two were injured after a vehicle crashed into another car that was street racing in Van Nuys, police said Saturday.

The collision occurred Friday around 10:30 p.m. near 14561 West Sherman Circle, with paramedics transporting two men from the scene in critical condition while a man and a woman were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Los Angeles Fire said. Department. One of the two cars racing just before the crash fled the scene, authorities said.

The two seriously injured victims were not involved in the street racing, Los Angeles police said Saturday. According to police, they were in a car making a left turn when it collided with one of the racing vehicles.

Aerial footage of the scene shows four damaged vehicles at an intersection, with one completely pinned to the ground. The night of the crash, LAFD said two cars were involved. A day later, police did not confirm the involvement of additional vehicles.
