Canucks sign Kevin Lankinen
The biggest story of the day unfolded off the ice, as Vancouver signed goaltender Kevin Lankinen to a one-year, $875,000 contract. Lankinen spent last season with the Nashville Predators, posting an 11-6 record with a .908 save percentage in 24 games. The 29-year-old is expected to join the team on Monday and could play as early as Tuesday when the Canucks open their preseason schedule against the Seattle Kraken.
“It’s only day 3, but I just like the creativity. I like that the guys understand what we’re trying to do.”

Ty Young and Dylan Ferguson switch groups
Vancouver made a notable practice group switch on Saturday, replacing Dylan Ferguson with Ty Young in Group B. Young’s promotion to Group B meant he would get a chance to face prospects like JT Miller, Brock Boeser and Quinn Hughes instead of the group of prospects that make up Group C. Young, who is expected to turn pro this year, went 23-11-0 with the WHL’s Prince George Cougars last season and ranks sixth all-time in wins in franchise history.
