Vermont launches app using AI to create resumes and apply for jobs

An application recently launched to help Vermonters find and apply for jobs using artificial intelligence technology, Vermont Employment Pathfinder helps users best match with career opportunities by creating a resume, identifying applicable jobs, and applying for those jobs.

Vermont Employment Pathfinder was founded in 2022 in Brattleboro through a partnership between Brattleboro Development Credit Corp. and technology company Skill Lab. The goal was to improve the skills and wages of marginalized and underemployed workers.

During the launch event on Monday afternoon, August 26, at the Old North End Community Center in Burlington, the creators of VEP emphasized the importance of this application for new Americans, people learning English, and people entering the workforce for the first time.

The app interviews job seekers through a series of questions, asking for information about professional experience and education, what skills the user has, along with personal information such as hobbies and volunteer work.

Based on an individual’s skill profile, the AI will recommend careers and identify career goals. It will highlight “relevant and sustainable careers” and also recommend local education or training based on skill gaps. The AI can translate information into 28 languages, making the program accessible to a wide range of individuals.

The application is free and available to job seekers across the state.
