Vestdavit equips CSOV Olympic Notos with advanced davits

Norwegian supplier Vestdavit has installed boat handling systems on CSOV Olympic Notos, a newbuild vessel supplied by Ulstein Verft to Olympic.

The package includes two H-9001 davits, two L-3500 liferaft davits and a PL-3600 MOB davit, all tailored to the ship’s specific operational needs.

The davits are manufactured at Vestdavit’s facility in Poland, sourced from European suppliers and comply with the latest standards and regulations.

CSOV Olympic Notos, in addition to sister ship Olympic Boreas, features Ulstein’s TWIN X-STERN solution, which enables precise dynamic positioning and minimizes the need for thrust, reducing fuel consumption by almost 50%.

The design of the CSOVs includes a double stern hull shape, which improves usability, along with a hybrid propulsion system, battery storage and smart energy management.

Vestdavit managing director Rolf Andreas Wigand said: “We are honored to have been selected by Ulstein to participate in this ground-breaking newbuild project based on our established track record of reliable davit supplies for the offshore wind and oil & gas markets, with systems designed for optimal performance to maximize the operational window of support vessels operating in this space.”

Ulstein chose Vestdavit’s compact davit solution as it was reportedly the only one that matched Olympic Notos’ design.

The H-9001 davit system on the Olympic Notos is adaptable to various lifeboats and lifeboats, providing multi-functional support for various maritime operations.

The L-3500 system ensures efficient launching of life rafts in harsh sea conditions, while the PL-3600 davit is suitable for various boat types, including rescue and work boats.

Vestdavit’s davits feature anti-pendulation and failsafe constant voltage for improved stability, and programmable logic controls for automated operations.

In August this year, Vestdavit received an order for the supply of high-quality davits for six ships in the Canadian Coast Guard fleet.
