Authorities are searching for two burglars who robbed the mailroom of a West Hollywood apartment building over the weekend.
It happened just after midnight Sunday morning, when two men wearing face coverings attacked the Kings Road Towers apartment complex, located in the 1200 block of Kings Road.
Surveillance footage shows one of the suspects successfully jumping over a fence before letting the second man through the gate. The two then head to the mailroom where they take bags, mail and packages.
Jake Mason, the president of the complex’s homeowners association, says one of the men entered the room about an hour before the two returned.
“I think they used tools to pry it open,” he said.
Residents of the complex are frustrated because this is not the first time their mailroom has been ransacked by burglars. They say it has been targeted at least three times in the past year.
A resident of the complex says his new credit card was stolen during one of the break-ins.
“Within two hours, they had spent $900 on stuff all over town with my card,” Dennis Hoerter said. “I was able to cancel it.”
Others who live nearby say the problem isn’t limited to the complex. Bruce Gilbert, who lives across the street, says the brazen criminals don’t even care about cameras.
“The neighborhood was hit pretty hard,” Mason said. “The buildings were trying to communicate with each other, HOAs, to signal each other, share pictures. Things like that.”
The Homeowners Association says they will report the incident to the police, but the police say that each victim of the burglary must report the damage themselves.
