Robert Kagan, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, resigned as editor-in-chief at the Washington Post after the paper’s billionaire owner Jeff Bezos decided the paper would no longer endorse presidential candidates. The editors were prepared to support Vice President Harris. Kagan called the decision a “premature capitulation” to Donald Trump, who has promised retaliation against his political rivals, and that the episode is a “preview of the consequences of the crisis.”
