Warriors coach Kerr apologizes to Giants fans as Dodgers fandom originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Steve Kerr won’t hide his love for the Los Angeles Dodgers, much to the chagrin of Bay Area sports fans.
Kerr, who grew up watching the Dodgers, is currently enjoying his team’s impressive World Series run.
“Maybe so,” Kerr said Monday on KNBR’s “Tolbert & Copes.” “We don’t have to talk about that [laughs]. I feel like a lot of people are just trying to get me in trouble around my fellow Bay Area fans because of my Dodger fandom.

Kerr spent much of his childhood in Southern California, and those formative years attending Dodgers games made him a lifelong fan.
“You can’t help it when you’re a kid going to games with your dad and your brother and sitting in the stands every summer for 10, 15 years straight,” Kerr told Tom Tolbert and Adam Copeland. “You can’t break it with that. It’s just in your blood. I want to apologize to all Giants fans. It is what it is.”
The Giants-Dodgers rivalry is one of the most heated in the MLB, dating back to when both teams lived in New York. Los Angeles has had an incredible run of excellence over the past decade and appears poised to win its second World Series title in the past five seasons.
Meanwhile, San Francisco fans are hoping franchise icon Buster Posey can bring the team back to prominence after taking over as president of baseball operations.
Considering Kerr’s incredible success with the Warriors and his recent Olympic triumph with Team USA, Bay Area fans won’t judge him too harshly for supporting the white-blue side.
