Watch live: Detroit City FC vs. Orange County SC

(CBS DETROIT) – Detroit City FC continues its road trip this Saturday with a cross-country trip to California to take on Orange County SC. Kickoff at Championship Soccer Stadium is at 10 p.m. and will be broadcast locally on Detroit50 (WKBD-TV). Supporters in Michigan can stream the game for free at CBSDetroit.com.

Le Rouge comes into this match on Wednesday after a 5-1 loss to Louisville City FC. After a brilliant strike from Matt Sheldon in the 34th minute that gave Detroit a 1-0 lead, Detroit conceded late in the first half and went into halftime tied 1-1. But an avalanche of goals from Louisville in the second half saw them put four goals past DCFC and walk away with a 5-1 win.

This was Detroit City FC’s first defeat in scoring the opening goal of the match since falling to Louisville City FC on the road, 2-1, in October 2022 after Antoine Hoppenot scored the first goal of the match. Le Rouge was eighteen games unbeaten when he scored first.

After the loss, DCFC remains in 5th place in the Eastern Conference with 17 points and a 5-2-2 record, following their perfect 5-0-0 start to the season. Detroit has two games remaining on fourth-place Tampa Bay Rowdies and four games on first-place Charleston Battery.

Orange County SC come into this match on a poor run of form, having lost four of their last five matches. In those four games, the losses were all to the teams Detroit has already faced this season: twice against Loudoun United, also last weekend, once against Louisville City and once against Oakland Roots.

Despite the poor run, Orange County is still in 5th place in the Western Conference with 15 points and a 4-3-4 record.

For Orange County, this match will be won or lost depending on how well midfielder Kyle Scott plays in this match. Scott’s playmaking ability, both on offense and defense, makes it difficult for any team to stop. But if Detroit can slow him down, Le Rouge has a great chance of coming out on top in this match.

These two teams have only faced each other once before. Last season at Keyworth Stadium, Orange County walked away with a 1-0 victory after a 23rd minute goal from Milan Iloski.

Detroit City has one game remaining in this four-game road trip. It will take on USL Championship newcomer Rhode Island FC next Saturday. The kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM

Detroit City returns to Keyworth on June 15 for an Eastern Conference battle against Charleston Battery. Tickets for all Detroit City games can be found at www.detcityfc.com/tickets.
