PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia’s police chief will give an update at a news conference today on the investigation into Ramon Rodriguez Vazquez, the man accused of shooting an officer in Kensington last weekend.

The press conference is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and will be streamed in the video player above and on CBS News Philadelphia.

Police Chief Kevin Bethel, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner and Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore will speak at the news conference.

Authorities accused Vazquez36, Sunday with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and related offenses.

Vazquez allegedly opened fire on two officers on the 3600 block of F Street shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday after police stopped a car with four people inside.

Investigators said police moved the car stop to a live stop. When officers inspected the car, officers noticed a gun holster. Bethel alleged Saturday evening that a man, since identified as Vazquez, then started running and shot an officer three times as he walked away.
