Watch McDaniels hilariously react to reported trade with Kings originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
The newest Kings forward discovered he was reportedly traded from the Toronto Raptors to Sacramento in hilarious fashion.
Jalen McDaniels, a six-year NBA veteran, was in the middle of an offseason workout Wednesday when his trainer Clint Parks pointed a camera at him. He captured the San Diego State player happily reacting to the latest news on social media.
Parks, known around the NBA world for his development tactics and working with LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard, shared McDaniels’ video in an Instagram Stories post from his account, @keolanakealoha, for all to see (h/t @ BASKETBALLonX).
Professional athletes, you might think, should find out that they’re being traded — or that something big has happened to them — by the organizations that move them. That was not the case here.
Instead, McDaniels and Parks shared a moment they’ll never forget, and one that Kings fans in particular will savor for some time to come.
McDaniels, as he humorously learned, was shipped across the border to Sacramento from Toronto.
The Kings acquired McDaniels in exchange for guard Davion Mitchell and forward Sasha Vezenkov, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Thursday afternoon, citing sources.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski also reported Thursday, citing sources, that Sacramento also sent the No. 45 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft to Toronto, which ended up being Houston Cougars guard Jamal Shead.

Although McDaniels made fans laugh after his reaction to his transfer went viral, the veteran winger is expected to be no picnic – at least not for other teams.
McDaniels is known for his height of 2.05 meters and weight of 93 kilos. His younger brother Jaden is a respected defenseman for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Sacramento’s newest wing hasn’t had the best NBA stint over the past six seasons, with career averages of 6.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists, but he offers the team length and versatility defensively, and most importantly , untapped potential.
For a guard-heavy team in the Kings, which just had a new team drafted in Providence’s Devin Carter, McDaniels could see heavy minutes during the 2024-2025 NBA season.
Regardless, McDaniel’s introduction to Sacramento will always be remembered as a funny one.
