Watch Ramos hit his first-ever Splash Hit home run in right field, which originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Giants outfielder Heliot Ramos did something every right-handed hitter who has ever played at Oracle Park would love to do.
Ramos hit the first Splash Hit home run ever by a right-handed batter in the ninth inning on Sunday, belting a solo home run to tie the game during the Giants’ 4-3 10-inning loss to the San Diego Padres.
Ramos’ ball went well over the Arcade on right field and into McCovey Cove, where it was picked up by … McCovey Cove Dave.
Amazingly, just a few days ago, Ramos told reporters that he would like to be the first right-handed batter to hit a splash.
Heliot Ramos said earlier this week that he wants to become the first right-handed batter to reach McCovey Cove. He just did it. That’s the first right-handed splash hit by lefties after 104.

The home run that tied the score was the 105th splash hit by a Giants player since Oracle Park opened in 2000.
Ramos, who made his first MLB All-Star Game appearance this season, has hit 21 home runs this year.
In a losing season, the Giants and their fans still found a glimmer of happiness in Ramos’ historic home run.
