There is a slight chance of isolated severe storms in the state on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Des Moines.
Areas of central and northern Iowa could see multiple showers throughout the day. The primary threats are damaging winds and large hail. Locally heavy rain and tornadoes are also possible.
According to the NWS, the morning rainfall and storms are not expected to pose a major threat, but the systems are expected to strengthen in the afternoon.

What is the weather forecast for Des Moines on July 4th?
According to the NWS forecast, Des Moines will experience a period of partly sunny days and temperatures up to 80 degrees Fahrenheit between rain showers.
At night there is a 30% chance of storms and rain before 21:00, which means fireworks shows can go ahead as planned. The minimum temperature drops to around 63 degrees.
