Watch these holiday movies at Alamo Drafthouse, AMC and Century 16 in Corpus Christi

Although winter doesn’t officially start until December 21, the spirit of the holidays is already in the air.

What better way to spend some of your free time than watching classic holiday movies at your local theater?

These three movie theaters in Corpus Christi will be showing special screenings of family favorites, Christmas horrors and winter rom-coms throughout December.

Make sure you buy your tickets early as some screenings can sell out quickly.

‘Elf’ (2003)

Rated PG, 1 hour and 37 minutes

A man who was accidentally taken to the North Pole as a child and raised as a toy elf makes the trek to Manhattan to find his real father, a workaholic.

The December 1 and 16 screenings at Alamo Drafthouse will be a Movie Party, with fun props and an immersive experience. The Dec. 7 screening at Alamo Drafthouse will be a Cereal Party with Nate’s Next Kid Up, a local nonprofit. The Cereal Party has a toy drive and every donor will receive free popcorn at the screening.

‘Black Christmas’ (1974)

Rated R, 1 hour 38 minutes

A group of sorority sisters receive threatening phone calls and are ultimately stalked and murdered by a killer during the Christmas season.

‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’ (1989)

Rated PG-13, 1 hour and 37 minutes

It’s Christmas and the Griswolds are preparing for a family celebration. But things never run smoothly for this family. Their bad luck is compounded with annoying family guests, snobbish neighbors and a cheap boss.

‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ (1946)

Rated PG, 2 hours and 10 minutes

George Bailey spent his life giving to the people of Bedford Falls. But Mr. Potter plans to take over the entire town, including George’s construction and loan company. When George’s company loses $8,000 on Christmas Eve, his troubles begin.

The screening at Alamo Drafthouse is a Love & Brunch performance, including a special brunch menu.

Get into the Christmas spirit with the Christian pop duo’s concert for KING + COUNTRY, recorded during their sold-out show in Houston.

‘The Polar Express’ (2004)

When a young boy takes a train journey to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.

‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ (2000)

On the outskirts of Whoville, a vicious creature known as the Grinch decides to destroy the town’s holiday spirit by stealing everything related to Christmas from the townspeople.
