Weekend to-do list: The holidays start with Christmas-themed events in Massachusetts

BOSTON – December starts this weekend and the holidays are in full swing with Christmas and holiday themed events happening across Massachusetts!

Quincy Christmas Celebration

Quincy will be presenting their 2024 Christmas Parade and Festival all weekend long. Friday night the town’s tree will be lit for the season. On Saturday, Santa Claus will arrive at Pageant Field by helicopter at noon. He will even say hello to the children in attendance during his busy season! On Sunday, families can enjoy the 71st Christmas Parade, which starts at noon on Hancock Street.

When: Friday November 29 to Sunday December 1. Tree Lighting Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Santa’s arrival Saturday at 12:00 PM, Christmas Parade Sunday from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM
Where: Friday tree lighting at Hancock-Adams Common; Santa arrives at Pageant Field on Saturday; Christmas Parade Sunday on Hancock Street

Fenway Chalet

Fenway kicks off the season with the Fenway Chalet. Featuring craft beer, wine and more from Cisco Brewers, it’s winter fun for a good cause, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Fenway Cares, which helps people facing food insecurity. Stop by the Fenway Tree Farm and enjoy light projections for the festive experience.

When: November 26 to December 28. Thanksgiving Week open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from noon to 6 p.m. Open every Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. For Fenway Tree Lighting on Wednesday, December 4, open from 4 to 9 p.m.

Christmas by candlelight

Enjoy the Christmas magic at Christmas by Candlelight at Old Sturbridge Village. From Friday November 29, the village will be transformed into a winter wonderland. With soft lights and candles, decorated trees, musical performances and seasonal sweets, this is the perfect way to create new memories with the family while enjoying holiday traditions. Visit on select weekends through December!
