West Lafayette Police investigate stabbing in Fall Court

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – West Lafayette police continued to sort through evidence and try to match witnesses’ statements about how Scott P. Nail was stabbed Tuesday at an apartment in the 3000 block of Fall Court about 8:50 p.m.

Nail, 55, of Colfax, suffered stab and laceration wounds to his legs and body, police said. None of his wounds were life-threatening.

Nail was treated at a local hospital, police said.

According to police, the first report was that there was an unwanted guest in the apartment.

Three people were in the apartment, including Nail, when he was stabbed, police said. The other two were Kimberly A. German, 54, of West Lafayette, and her boyfriend, police said.

According to police, the three had had an argument before the stabbing.

Nail was wanted on a Clinton County warrant, but arresting him on that warrant would require sheriff’s deputies to monitor him during his hospital stay, police said. The Clinton County arrest warrant was revoked and a new court date was set. This means Nail was free to leave after being treated for his wounds, police said.

German, Nail’s cousin, knew he was a fugitive and she let him stay at the apartment, police said. So they arrested her on suspicion of aiding a criminal, a level 6 felony.

She remained in the Tippecanoe County Jail in lieu of bond Wednesday afternoon, according to jail records.
