The Sacramento area could be sunny and warm on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the agency, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 42 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 21 degrees Celsius overnight, with clear skies and wind gusts of up to 13 km/h.

When was the warmest 4th of July ever recorded in Sacramento?

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in downtown Sacramento on July 4 could be the hottest ever.

Kate Forrest, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said the city’s record for daily temperatures was set on July 4, 2013, when the high reached 108 degrees Fahrenheit.

Forrest added that the average high in July in downtown Sacramento is 91 degrees Fahrenheit.

What was the hottest day in the city’s history? The longest heat wave?

According to the weather service, a record high of 117 degrees Fahrenheit was reached in downtown Sacramento on September 6, 2022, breaking a record set nearly a century ago.

Since the National Weather Service began keeping temperature records in July 1877, Sacramento has experienced more than two dozen heat waves, with temperatures of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher lasting six consecutive days or longer.

The longest period of temperatures of 38 degrees Celsius in the city was in July 2009 and lasted for 11 consecutive days, the weather service said.

The National Weather Service advises people to drink plenty of fluids and stay in air-conditioned rooms.

Also, stay out of the sun, do not leave children or pets unattended in vehicles, and use caution when outdoors.

Wear light clothing, limit strenuous activities and take frequent breaks in a cool environment.
