Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith says a school resource officer attacked Gray shortly after shots were fired. Gray then went to the ground, surrendered and was arrested.

Smith says Gray realized he would be shot if he didn’t turn himself in.

They say Gray has been questioned by detectives from the sheriff’s office and the GBI. Smith said his statements “help our investigation.”

The sheriff said all nine people who survived the shooting were shot “in some way.”
