The first presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris took place earlier this month in Philadelphia. Post-debate polls are now showing the impact the candidates had on likely voters.

CBS News announced last month that the two vice presidential nominees, Democratic Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota and GOP Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio, both agreed to participate in a debate hosted by the network on Tuesday, October 1.
According to CBS News, the network proposed four dates for a debate between the two vice presidential nominees: September 17, September 24, October 1 and October 8. Both campaigns quickly agreed to the October 1 date.
“See you on October 1st, JD,” Walz posted on August 14 on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
Vance accepted the Oct. 1 debate the following day, while also proposing a Sept. 18 debate on CNN. Michael Tyler, Harris’ campaign communications director, told CBS News later that day that Walz would only participate in the Oct. 1 debate.
