Where to vote in Michigan for the 2024 election? How to find your polling place.

(CBS DETROIT) – With the 2024 general election on Tuesday, Michigan voters are urged to make sure they have everything they need to vote, especially if they know where to cast their ballots.

Polling stations are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM local time. As long as you are in line at 8 p.m., you are entitled to cast your vote.

Here’s what you need to know about finding your polling place.

How can you find your polling place in Michigan?

Michigan voters can check their voting location online at the Michigan Voter Information Center.

The information includes the address and precinct number where registered voters can vote (some locations house more than one precinct), as well as a sample ballot.

Can you ever vote at another polling place in Michigan?

Your voting location depends on your address and voter registration. Michigan residents can update their home address on their voter registration card after moving, which could potentially impact their polling place.

The registration must match your driver’s license in order to vote.

It is recommended that you check your voter registration status before heading to the polls.

What should you bring to vote in Michigan?

As a voter, you are not required to have a photo ID to vote in Michigan.

If you don’t have a photo ID, you can still cast your vote in Michigan. You must sign a statement stating that you do not have a valid photo ID. After signing the statement you can cast your vote.

If you have a photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state-issued ID, you must show it at the polling place.

The following forms of photo identification are acceptable:

  • Driver’s license or identification card issued by Michigan or another state
  • Federal, state, provincial, or local government-issued photo identification
  • American passport
  • Military ID card with photo
  • Student photo ID card of an educational institution
  • Tribal identity card with photo
  • A government-issued ID from a local or provincial government
  • Concealed Pistol License

If your photo ID or driver’s license has expired, you cannot use it as a valid photo ID. Instead, you must sign an affidavit stating that you do not have a valid photo ID.

You have the right to take voter information guides or pamphlets with you when you vote, but you must take them with you once you have cast your vote.

You can take a selfie outside the voting areas.

You can also be assisted by an interpreter to vote in a language other than English.
