Where to watch the DNC? Here’s where to watch the live stream, when it starts, and speaker info

Democrats from Tennessee and other residents from across the country have descended on the Windy City for the Democratic National Convention.

The 2024 Democratic National Convention gets underway Monday after a shaky few months in the party following calls for President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, culminating in his withdrawal from the race and endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee. And a tribute to the 81-year-old will be paid Monday night.

Speakers including Hillary and Bill Clinton and Barack Obama are expected to speak Monday night, along with Biden. The national convention speaker lineup is subject to change.

Here you can watch the Democratic National Convention and everything else you need to know about this week.

What time does the Democratic National Convention start?

The delegates attending the convention will have plenty to do this week, but for those who can’t make it, the main televised event is scheduled to begin Monday at 5:30 p.m. CT and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. CT.

Where can I watch and stream the DNC?

The conference can be viewed live on the website between 5:15 PM and 10:00 PM CT on Monday and between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM CT on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

  • C-SPAN the entire congress will continue uninterrupted for four days.

  • CBS NewsPrimetime coverage of the convention will air Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. ET and will be hosted by Norah O’Donnell, anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News.

  • ABC News will air one hour of primetime broadcasts from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET on Mondays and Tuesdays and two hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET. ABC News Live, the network’s streaming news channel, will stream primetime broadcasts from 7:00 p.m. to midnight all four days.

  • Fox News will present a special one-hour broadcast every day, Monday through Thursday at 10:00 p.m. ET, titled “Fox News Democracy 2024: The Democratic National Convention,” hosted by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.

  • CNN will provide live coverage nearly 24/7, including special live coverage each night from 8:00 p.m. to midnight ET with “CNN Democratic National Convention.”

  • NewsNation will feature a special primetime broadcast titled “Decision Desk 2024: The Democratic National Convention,” airing daily from 8 a.m. to midnight ET. It will be hosted by Chris Cuomo, Elizabeth Vargas and Leland Vittert.

  • NBC News will broadcast the convention on its streaming platform, NBC News Now, as part of its “Decision 2024” broadcast. The coverage will air from 10 to 11 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and from 9 to 11 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. It will be moderated by Lester Holt and Savannah Guthrie, The New York Times reported.

  • MSNBC will air special coverage each night from 8 p.m. to midnight and will stream all four days of the convention live on its YouTube channel, The New York Times reports.

How long is the 2024 Democratic National Convention?

The conference begins on Monday, August 19 and runs through Thursday at the United Center in Chicago.

Who’s speaking at the DNC?

Speakers each night this week will consist of well-known names from parties and celebrities. The full line-up of speakers will be announced at a later date, but here are some of the people expected to take the stage this week.

Biden will be the keynote speaker Monday night, along with first lady Jill Biden. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will also speak Monday after a welcome from Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson.

On Tuesday, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker will deliver a welcoming address. Keynote speakers include Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and former President Barack Obama.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is scheduled to deliver his vice presidential acceptance speech Wednesday night. According to CNN, former President Bill Clinton, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg are expected to speak before Walz.

When will Kamala Harris speak at the DNC?

Vice President Kamala Harris will close out the convention on Thursday evening by accepting the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.

Who will host the Democratic National Convention?

Actor Tony Goldwyn will emcee the convention Monday night. Goldwyn starred in ABC’s “Scandal,” where he played President Fitzgerald Grant III, and currently plays Manhattan District Attorney Nicholas Baxter on “Law and Order.”

Goldwyn is also a Democratic activist: he supported Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid in 2016 and this year attended a reproductive rights event in New Hampshire with Biden’s campaign before the president ended his re-election bid.

The remaining hosts for the week are Ana Navarro on Tuesday, comedian Mindy Kaling on Wednesday and actress Kerry Washington on Thursday, congressional officials confirmed to USA Today.
