Although no E. Coli cases have been reported in Florida, several grocery store chains in Sarasota and Manatee counties were affected by the recall.
Grimmway Farms said in a news release that some of its organic whole and baby carrots sold at many grocery chains in Sarasota and Manatee counties, including Trader Joe’s, Wegmans, Whole Foods, Walmart and Target, may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria .
The carrot maker, headquartered in Bakersfield, California, voluntarily recalled the carrots after the CDC determined they may be linked to an outbreak. According to the CDC, there have been 39 cases, 15 hospitalizations and one death in 18 states.

The recalled carrots should not be for sale in stores but may already be in the refrigerator or freezer, according to a press release from Grimmway Farms.

Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Target, Sprouts, Walmart and Publix have all been affected by carrot E. Coli outbreak, Grimmway Farm shared in a press release.
