Where the water is still rising in Minnesota

Where Waters Still Rise in Minnesota

01:23

MINNEAPOLIS— While some smaller rivers, such as the Cannon and Cottonwood, have already reached their flood levels, this is not the case everywhere.

Minnesota still has several days of high tide, hence the several flood warnings still in effect.

A number of roads in the southern metro remain closed as water levels continue to rise. The Minnesota River Another two feet are expected to rise and the peak will be on Saturday afternoon – just a few feet shy of the record.

Parks and playgrounds on Harriet Island remain under water in St. Paul. The Mississippi River there is at major flood stage and will remain so until early next week. The river is expected to peak Saturday afternoon and gradually drop below flood stage by next weekend, the first time in nearly two weeks.

In Stillwater, where the historic drawbridge over the swollen St. Croix River remains closed, water levels are expected to rise another foot or so. By Sunday, the water level will be moderate, topping out at around 90 feet.

Any additional rain we see in the coming days would only make the damage worse and could change these numbers.
