BOSTON — Voters across the country have been voting early over the past two weeks, but some Massachusetts residents said they wanted to wait to cast their ballots on Election Day.
Excited to vote on election day
Violet Jenkins studies at the University of Suffolk and will vote for the first time on Tuesday.
“I didn’t vote early, so I’m going to vote tomorrow,” she said. “I have the right to vote and I want to use it and express my opinion, because in the coming years I will buy a house, finish my studies and get a real job. have a say in my future.”
Over the past few weeks, voters have reported a sense of fatigue from this election cycle. Whether it is the noise of social media, non-stop political texts or tense conversations between their friend groups or family.
“Everyone I’ve talked to today and over the last few weeks doesn’t really know how it’s going to go,” said Boston’s Erik Linden. “I really just want to end the day and from there see what we can achieve next as a country.”
Brady Hurvitz will make the trip home to cast his vote.
“It’s definitely an intimidating time, but it’s exciting. I’m very hopeful, I think we’ll just watch and see what happens.”
Drop off ballots by mail
The Massachusetts Secretary of State’s office reported that about a third of registered voters cast ballots early.
For those who still need to return a ballot, the state recommends dropping it off in person at a polling place or at an official drop box. They are often located at your town or city hall.
