Amazon Prime Day has become one of the biggest shopping days of the year, with big discounts in every category, especially on Amazon’s own devices. This Sale to Prime members only is the biggest of the year and packed with sales of tons of goodies. So with the Amazon shopping event coming very soonis it a fair question to ask: will kindle be on sale for prime day?

The answer is probably yes. For avid readers and Kindle enthusiasts, Prime Day (like the Big spring sale earlier this year) will likely mean the perfect opportunity to score a Kindle e-reader with a big discount. Past Prime Day Kindle deals include savings on entry-level models like the Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite, as well as premium models like the Kindle Oasis. Plus, Unlimited Kindle Unlimited subscriptions are also on sale. Based on the big Kindle deals we’ve seen during previous Prime Day events, we can probably expect some of the best Kindle sales of the year during Prime Day 2024.

Which Kindle models are likely to be on sale for Prime Day 2024?

For Prime Day 2024, expect Amazon to drop prices on several of its Kindle models, from the most basic editions to the souped-up options that will require you to spend a bit more money. We normally see sales across the board when it comes to Kindle devices, from one Prime Day to the next. Here are some models you’re likely to find on sale:

• Kindle: This is your basic everyday Kindle, with front lighting and a 6-inch screen, ideal for casual readers who want an affordable e-reader.
• Kindle Paperwhite: The Kindle Paperwhite is known for its high-resolution screen, adjustable warm light and waterproof design. It’s a step up from the standard model, which typically has steep discounts across the board.
• Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition: This edition includes all the features of the Paperwhite, including wireless charging and an auto-adjusting front light.
• Kindle Writer: This premium Kindle comes with a 10.2-inch screen and all the standard features you’d expect from a Kindle, but it ups the ante by adding a 300 ppi screen and a basic pen that you can use to take notes or to scribble, making the device, a Kindle and an electronic notebook, perfect for anyone who needs to convert handwriting to text or for those who like to mark up books as they read.
• Kindle Children: This Kindle is the perfect option for young readers, with a 300 ppi, glare-free screen and access to Amazon Kids+. Which Kindle models were on sale for Prime Day 2023?

Last year, during Amazon Prime Day 2023, we saw several offers across the board on e-readers, including a 22% discount on the Kindle Scribe, which was the brand’s newest e-reader at the time. That’s still the case, so we may see some similar discounts this year as well.

Additionally, the 2022 Kindle was discounted by 25%, while the Kindle Paperwhite was also discounted by 32%. Even the Kindle Oasis was marked down by 20%, although it has since been discontinued and is no longer available. The Kindle Paperwhite Signature was even up for grabs at a 26% discount. Last but not least, there was also a sale for the Kindle Kids release, where it was available at 33% off.

Essentially, all Kindle models got a discount for Prime Day 2023. We can probably expect the same for this year.

Will Kindle Unlimited be on sale for Prime Day 2024?

Most likely, you’ll be able to try Kindle Unlimited at a lower price during Prime Day 2024. Historically, Amazon has offered some pretty significant discounts on Kindle Unlimited subscriptions during Prime Day. The sales usually come in the form of cheaper subscriptions that last a few months; long-term free trials; or other options to let Kindle owners try it out.

For example, last year Amazon offered a Kindle Unlimited subscription for $4.99 per month for the first two months. Then the price rose to $11.99. This kind of sale happens quite often, so it’s not out of the question that it could happen during Prime Day 2024.

Kindle Unlimited is not a free version Excellent advantage. It’s a subscription service that lets you read tons of ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines for one price per month. Read a book and return it when you finish it, or keep it indefinitely until you finish it. It’s a great way to try it out before permanently purchasing a book, or to feed your voracious need to read without spending an arm and a leg.

What about Stuff Your Kindle Day?

Stuff Your Kindle Day is an event where tons of ebooks are up for grabs for free or at reduced prices for a limited time. It’s usually organized by authors, publishers and other reading communities (like TikTok’s BookTok) to encourage people to read more or read specific authors, hence the nature of the name “top up your Kindle” – the point is to get loads of new add content to your device.

Here’s the good news: you don’t need an Amazon Prime account or Kindle Unlimited to participate. You just need an Amazon account and a Kindle or a device that can use the Kindle app. Each book for sale will be available on author websites and other third-party sellers. You can follow the book’s link to the Amazon listing, where it will be reduced to $0 or a small fee. There will be plenty of options to choose from.

There are usually multiple dates for Stuff Your Kindle Day throughout the year. The event has already taken place once this year, in April. Back then, romance, cozy mysteries, and witch-themed books were available for the taking. However, these aren’t the only genres you can add to your Kindle.

There have been no new Stuff Your Kindle dates yet, but that could change. Stay tuned for when you can join the next wave of genres and fill your own Kindle or other e-reader.

Current deals for Kindles

There are currently no deals on standalone Kindle devices, likely due to the end of some limited-time Memorial Day sales. However, there are some Kindle bundles that include everything you need to get started reading with one of Amazon’s favorite e-readers.

If you spend a lot of time reading, this is your best choice under $200.

Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition Essentials Bundle: $238 (Save $20)

This bundle is a step up from the Kindle Paperwhite Essentials bundle option as you get the Signature Edition of the device in black, a case and a wireless charger so you can be sure it’s always charged when you’re done to read.
