A 72-year-old woman was fatally stabbed and her 47-year-old son was hospitalized after they were both attacked by a family member in their Brooklyn apartment, police and neighbors said.
Officers responding to the bloody attack on Bedford Ave. near Ave. U in Sheepshead Bay, around 9:30 a.m. Friday, found both 72-year-old Malka Semenduyeva and a 47-year-old man, believed to be her son, suffering from a stab wound. wounds around their bodies.
Both victims were taken to Coney Island Hospital, where Semenduyeva died, police said. The male victim was expected to survive.
Their attacker, believed to be another son, fled the scene.
Neighbors told News 12 Brooklyn that Semenduyeva was deaf and that she and her son were attacked by another son who is known to have a drug problem and is begging for change in the neighborhood.
“I saw the brother come out,” said neighbor Slava Simburg. “[He] was bleeding, covering his face. Then I saw [the suspect] came out and he was covered in blood but not injured and you could see it [blood] was everywhere.”
The NYPD could not immediately confirm that Semenduyeva’s son was a suspect in her murder.
No arrests have been made.
