Woman admits to killing father in North Spokane home and claims he was abusive

June 25—A woman admitted shooting her father early Tuesday morning at his Northwest Spokane home because he would hit her and her dogs, she told police.

Alyssa Bradburn, 31, called police just before 1 a.m. to report that she had shot and killed her father, Timothy Bradburn, according to court documents. The two live at 5610 N. Cochran St, but her father has an apartment in Hawaii and spends most of his time there, she told police.

For weeks, Bradburn planned her father’s murder, she said in court filings. She practiced how to use a gun at the shooting range and often wrote about it in her diary. Bradburn told police that her father raped her as a child and that he often beat her and shot her dogs with a BB gun in the backyard, court records show.

There are no records in Spokane Superior Court or state court for Timothy Bradburn. When asked about Alyssa Bradburn’s claims against him, a Spokane police spokeswoman simply said the incident was under investigation.

The morning of the shooting, Bradburn’s father flew to Spokane from Hawaii and arrived home in an Uber. She waited for him to walk inside and shot him in the chest and head, Bradburn told police. She informed police that she was okay with her arrest, and Bradburn was booked into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.

During her first court appearance Tuesday afternoon, Bradburn appeared in a green jumpsuit and spoke calmly with her attorney and the judge. Her bond was set at $1 million.
