Woman arrested after allegedly shoplifting more than $1,000 worth of merchandise in San Mateo Macy

A woman was arrested Monday for allegedly stealing more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from a Macy’s store in San Mateo, according to San Mateo police.

The department received a call from Macy’s at the Hillsdale Shopping Center to report a possible theft. Employees stopped the suspect from leaving before officers apprehended her.

Amberly Pennock, 42, of San Francisco, allegedly stole multiple items worth a total of more than $1,000. The items were in her possession and were returned to Macy’s, police said.

Pennock was arrested on suspicion of theft and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
