Woman arrested for attempted child kidnapping at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup

Puyallup Police (PPD) say they arrested a woman Monday who tried to kidnap a three-year-old child from the waiting room at Good Samaritan Hospital.

It happened just after 1 p.m. Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

Witnesses told PPD that the 3-year-old girl was sitting in the emergency room waiting room with her mother. They say the suspect abruptly picked up the child and walked away with her when several people, including staff and security, intervened.

According to police, it took several people using force to free the child.

The 3-year-old suffered minor injuries.

The suspect is a 45-year-old woman from unincorporated Pierce County, according to police. She was booked into the Pierce County Jail for 2nd Degree Kidnapping.
