A woman in her 70s has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting of her granddaughter during a domestic violence incident Sunday at a home in Buckeye, according to police officials.
Buckeye police responded to a report of a shooting at a home near 254th Avenue and Carson Drive just after 4 p.m., police said in a news release. When officers arrived, they ordered the residents to leave the home.
A woman in her 50s left the home and was arrested without incident. Officers then went inside and found a woman in her early 30s unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. They brought her out and started life-saving measures.
Police then found a woman in her seventies in the home with a gun nearby. She was detained without incident.
According to the Buckeye Police Department, information gathered at the scene said that “the shooting was part of a domestic violence incident involving a grandmother, mother and granddaughter and that the grandmother shot the granddaughter,” according to the news release.
