Woman arrested smuggling 350 Nintendo Switch game cards in her bra – Chinese customs officials intercept smuggler at checkpoint

Chinese customs officials at Liantang Port got more than they bargained for when an unusually busty woman was spotted among the incoming passengers. They noticed her nervous behavior, intercepted and inspected her, leading to the discovery that she was trying to smuggle 350 Nintendo Switch game cartridges in her bra into mainland China.

The customs officials noticed that the woman was behaving abnormally and that her ‘appearance and attitude were not innocent’. An eagle-eyed customs officer also thought her breasts looked unusual, so they pulled her from the line of incoming passengers for further inspection.

That inspection revealed that the woman was not as fortunate as she hoped officials would believe. They found 350 Nintendo Switch game cartridges in her bra. The initial estimated value of the smuggled goods was 70,000 yuan ($9,660).

Chinese customs officials pointed to Article 7 of the Regulations on the Implementation of Administrative Customs Penalties of the People’s Republic of China. That regulation prohibits people entering China from “evading customs supervision by concealing, disguising, disguising declarations, false declarations or other means, carrying, transporting or shipping goods prohibited or restricted from entering or leaving by the state.” ”

Bringing in or taking goods out of China without paying the proper taxes is considered smuggling and illegal, as in most countries. Assuming it is not determined that the Nintendo Switch gaming cards are prohibited or restricted, the suspect may be subject to a fine of “not more than three times the amount of fees owed but evaded.”

Liantang Port is the mainland Chinese counterpart of Hong Kong’s Heung Yuen Tai checkpoint. The land border checkpoint, located in Shenzhen, was established to reduce traffic through other border crossings in the country. It opened to passenger traffic on February 6, 2023.
