Woman dies after shooting in College/Glen neighborhood of Sacramento, police say

A woman has been shot and killed in east Sacramento, police say, one of three fatal shootings in the city on Saturday.

According to Sacramento Police spokesman Anthony Gamble, officers were called to the 3100 block of Occidental Drive in the College/Glen neighborhood just before 5 p.m. for reports of a shooting.

Sacramento police officers and firefighters found a woman with at least one gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman’s identity was expected to be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

According to Gamble, officers arrested a man at the scene, but were still trying to determine if he was involved in the shooting.

“We believe this incident is contained to the residence,” Gamble said.

The shooting happened about an hour before a 12-year-old was shot dead in a south Sacramento neighborhood. Another shooting around 1 a.m. on a busy downtown Sacramento strip left one man dead and another wounded.
