A woman died at a hospital this week, three days after she was struck by a passenger bus at a crosswalk in downtown Kansas City, police said.
The woman was walking north in a marked crosswalk on 6th Street around 1 p.m. when a passenger bus turning left from Wyandotte Street ran her over, according to a Kansas City Police incident report.
Police were notified by medical personnel Monday just before 4:30 p.m. that the woman had died from her injuries, said KCPD spokesman Sgt. Phil Di Martino.
Police have not yet publicly identified the victim.
Officers located the passenger bus later Saturday and the driver cooperated with the investigation, DiMartino said. As of Tuesday afternoon, no charges had been filed in connection with the crash.
The death marks the 76th traffic fatality in Kansas City in 2024, DiMartino said. This time last year, the city had 80 traffic fatalities.
