On June 26, a passerby knocked on the window of a car parked behind a cemetery in hopes of attracting the attention of the man and woman inside, Indiana police officers said.
Neither responded, so the person called 911.
When officers arrived at the Summitville cemetery, they found 47-year-old Michela Hinson dead in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds. Her husband — Jeremy Hinson, 47 — was in the passenger seat, the Madison County Sheriff’s Department said in a June 27 news release.
The husband was immediately arrested on murder charges, officers said. He was denied bail.
Officers said they found a gun at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, officials say.
Summitville is about a 70-mile drive northeast of Indianapolis.
