Authorities are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a 59-year-old woman as she sat in her boyfriend’s car in Compton.
According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, the shooting happened Monday around 10:57 p.m. in the 700 block of South Holly Avenue.
Police say the victim, Beverly Wilkins, was sitting in a parked car outside her mother’s home when someone pulled up and fired several shots at the car.
Wilkins was hit three times and was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Authorities are still looking for the suspect who drove away after the shooting.
KCAL spoke with the victim’s mother, who said she still couldn’t believe her daughter was gone.
“She was always willing to help people. She had her mischievous ways, but she was still a good girl,” said Rosie Wilkins, the victim’s mother.
