Work truck rolls over I-295 in Freeport, injuring 4 people

Sept. 27 – A work truck with five people on board rolled onto Interstate 295 in Freeport Friday morning, blocking one of the northbound lanes for nearly two hours.

According to Maine State Police, the white GMC van was traveling north around 7 a.m. when it left the roadway, struck a crossover and rolled over. The driver and three other passengers were taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing, police said. The driver, identified as 29-year-old Edison Uscha-Roto of South Portland, had a suspended driver’s license.

The van was carrying construction tools and equipment, which were scattered across the lane and median. The road has now been reopened, police said.
