A worker died and another was injured Thursday morning while working at a high school construction site in Orange County, authorities said.
According to the Orange County Fire Authority, first responders received a 911 call at 10:21 a.m. reporting two workers were injured in a construction zone at Villa Park High School. When paramedics arrived, one of the workers was pronounced dead at the scene while they treated the other injured person and rushed him to a nearby hospital, authorities said.
“While we do not have any additional information, please know that our hearts are with the victim, the family, the school and the community,” the OC Fire Authority said in an update on X at 1:50 p.m.
No students or staff were present or injured during the incident, authorities said. Previously, fire officials said there was no threat to the school or the surrounding community.
Authorities have not released any further details as part of the investigation.
