Worker dies days after labor incident in Gurnee, Illinois

GURNEE, Ill. (CBS) – An employee died last week after a workplace incident in Gurnee, Illinois, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Around 7:30 a.m. Friday, the Gurnee Fire Department and Illinois State Police responded to the Illinois Tollway M-4 building along I-94 near Grand Avenue for a person who had been run over by a device.

The victim, identified as 39-year-old Gregory Bolls of Chicago, was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with life-threatening injuries. He died later on Sunday in intensive care.

Preliminary results indicated that the victim died of blunt force injuries as a result of the incident.

The investigation into his death, including a review of medical documentation and toxicology tests, remains ongoing.

The crash is under investigation by the Illinois State Police and OSHA.
