🏀 NBA Draft: French Prospects Go 1-2

French prospects Zaccharie Risacher (Hawks) and Alex Sarr (Wizards) went 1-2 in the NBA draft on Wednesday, marking the first time in history that international players have been selected with the top two picks.

Pick-by-pick analysis: Yahoo Sports draft expert Krysten Peek graded each pick, with the Lakers getting the lone A+ (Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht) and the Grizzlies the lone D (Purdue’s Zach Edey).

What’s next: For the first time, the NBA Draft will be spread over two days, with the second round scheduled for 4 p.m. Eastern Time today.

Historical surprise: Georgia (No. 74 in the world) are the lowest-ranked team in the field, while Portugal (No. 6) enter with the fourth-best odds to win it all. The ranking difference makes it the biggest upset in tournament history.

  • But 10 other teams are separated by just 8.5 matches in a Battle Royale for three wildcard spots.

The AL is a different story: The Orioles have a big lead for the first wild card, with only five teams (Twins, Red Sox, Royals, Astros, Rays) within four games of the other two spots.

18 years ago today, Roger Federer defeated Richard Gasquet in straight sets in his Wimbledon opener for his 42nd consecutive win on grass, breaking a tie with Björn Borg for the longest streak ever.

What a run: Fed would eventually extend his streak to 65 consecutive victories on grass, winning 10 tournaments in a row between 2003 and 2008, before ultimately losing to Rafael Nadal in the 2008 Wimbledon final.

The USWNT Olympic roster was released on Wednesday and for the first time in nearly two decades, one of the sport’s biggest names was missing: Alex Morgan.

Barely: It was a “tough decision”, coach Emma Hayes said, but ultimately there was no room on the 18-player roster for Morgan, who turns 35 next week and has struggled to score of late.
