Yankees’ Aaron Judge Luis Gil earns American League honors for the month of May

Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and starting pitcher Luis Gil were both dominant in their own right during the month of May, and now they have the hardware to prove it.

On Monday morning, Judge was named AL Player of the Month, and Gil took home both AL Rookie and Pitcher of the Month.

Judge came on an absolute tear at the plate in May, hitting 361/.479/.918, with 14 home runs and 27 RBI. An extra-base machine, Judge recorded a franchise record 25 extra-base hits in the month, surpassing a record previously held by Babe Rutte And Lou Gehrig.

As for Gil, it’s impossible to say enough about what the young right-hander has done for the rotation. He’s celebrating his 26the On Monday, Gil was a gift for the Bombers, especially in May when he pitched to a 0.70 ERA with 44 strikeouts and 12 walks in 38.2 innings (six starts).

Of Gerrit Kool He has yet to pitch this season (although he begins a rehab assignment on Tuesday). It’s been Gil who has stepped up and been an ace for the Yankees this season, posting a 1.99 ERA and 0.947 WHIP through his 11 starts.
