Yankees place RHPs Ian Hamilton and Cody Poteet on IL amid series of roster moves

The Yankees announced a series of roster moves ahead of Tuesday’s series opener of a huge three-game set with the second-place Baltimore Orioles in the Bronx.

New York posted RHP Ian Hamilton (right lat trunk) and RHP Cody Poteet (right triceps strain) on the 15-day IL.

Hamilton is expected to face an extended absence as he will not be allowed to throw for three to four weeks before returning to action.

Poteet may be able to return a little sooner as he is expected to be closed for one to two weeks before being reevaluated. Of Gerrit Cole When he returns to the Yankees’ rotation against Baltimore on Wednesday night, it’s not known exactly what his role will be next.

He returned to the mound this season and has pitched well at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, posting a 3.23 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 37 strikeouts in 23 appearances.

Andrews, on the other hand, has struggled this season with a 16.42 ERA in 21 appearances in the major and minor leagues after being acquired in a deal with the Brewers.
