Yankees re-sign RHP Jonathan Loaisiga to one-year deal: report

The Yankees are bringing back a familiar face for their revamped bullpen.

New York signs RHP Jonathan Loaisiga According to Jorge Castillo of ESPN, the contract is for one year. The contract reportedly includes a team option for 2026.

The right-hander was pursued by a number of teams, including the Mets, Padres, Rangers and Blue Jays, but he ultimately decided to return to The Bronx.

Loaisiga, 30, missed most of the 2024 season due to surgery to repair a torn UCL. The reliever did not undergo Tommy John surgery, but instead underwent internal brace surgery to shorten his recovery time. He had the surgery in April so he could be ready for spring training.

Unfortunately, Loaisiga’s career has been hampered by injuries in recent years. He made only seventeen appearances in 2023, but made over fifty appearances in consecutive years (2021-2022).

The Nicaraguan native was limited to just three appearances last season, allowing seven hits and one walk over four innings while striking out three batters.

Loaisiga owns a 3.44 ERA while making 163 appearances in his seven-year career, all with the Yankees.
