Young suspect arrested in shooting of 42-year-old man in Sansom Park, police say

An arrest has been made in connection with the June 21 shooting that left a 42-year-old man dead, Sansom Park police said in a news release.

On Saturday, a juvenile was taken into custody with the assistance of Saginaw police, the release said.

Authorities said there are no suspects left in the case and the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident.

In a news release Wednesday, police asked for the public’s help in identifying two suspects in the murder of Richard Applegate.

Police have released two videos, each briefly showing someone. The police assume that these two people have something to do with the murder.

Applegate’s family members told KTVT-TV that he was shot after confronting two young men who threatened the family.

Police asked residents in the following areas to check their surveillance for footage or images of people walking around between 4:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Friday, June 21:

  • Skyline powertrain

  • Crowley Street

  • Comanche Street

  • Cowden Street

  • Calloway Street

  • Joshua Hof

  • Jalah Hof

The released video appears to be from home security cameras, such as a doorbell camera.

No further information will be released about the suspect due to his age, police said.
