Your Switch games will work on Nintendo’s next console

You won’t have to worry about buying your Nintendo favorites again when the Switch’s successor finally arrives. In its earnings report, Nintendo said the next console will have backwards compatibility and can run games made for the Switch. In addition, Switch Online will also be available on the Switch 2.

The earnings report has a philosophical tone when it comes to why. The online service, Nintendo Account, links a user’s history to a single account and allows the company to maintain “an ongoing relationship” with them across generations of consoles.

We’re all waiting: Nintendo has lowered its fiscal year sales forecast due to a big drop in console sales compared to last year.
