Zaxbys, the Georgia-based fast food franchise known for its Southern fried chicken, will enter New Jersey for the first time.
Plans are to open six locations across the state, with the first two locations set to open in South Jersey in the summer of 2025, the company announced in a news release.
Founded in 1990, Zaxbys, famous for its signature sauces, serves fried chicken, salads, wings, chicken fingers and more. It has been recognized as a top franchise on the Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 list since 2013 and operates more than 950 locations in 17 states, according to the company.
No specific location was given for the first two restaurants, other than to say the first will be “just north of Philadelphia.”

Zaxbys’ franchise push into the New Jersey market is led by the GSP Group and New Jersey resident Premanand Gupta, who said he is confident in his company’s ability to expand the Zaxbys brand across the state.
“We started exploring Zaxbys about a year ago. The growing chicken market caught our interest and Zaxby’s exceptional product and solid business model stood out. We believe it will quickly become a local favorite,” said Gupta.
The GSP Group has expanded operations for other fast food brands in New Jersey, including Dunkin’ and Subway.

This week, the company also announced that it will also open three new locations in Maryland.
