A 40-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly firing his gun at a car during a road rage incident in South End on Friday evening.
Police say Jair Furtado was arrested at the corner of E Berkeley Street and Harrison Ave. Police say they arrived on scene for reports of a shots fired and found two cars in the middle of the intersection.
Witnesses at the scene told police that the two cars were involved in a road rage incident for about half a mile, and that the suspect shot at the other driver’s car.
Neighbors told Boston 25 on Sunday that they heard the gunshot outside their windows.
“It sounded like a gun,” Dom Marino said. “It didn’t sound like a truck was bottoming out.”
He added: “Presumably, from neighborhood chatter, the firearm was right on the passenger seat.”
Police searched Furtado’s car and found a Springfield Hellcat with one bullet in the chamber and eight bullets in the magazine.
They also found ammunition and a holster in the car.
Another witness, Barry, added: “People were running that way towards the restaurant because they were all scared.”
Police have not reported any injuries.
