Yankees DFA RHP Ron Marinaccio, option RHP Cody Poteet to Triple-A

The Yankees have reinstated the right-handed pitcher Cody Poteet from the 60-day injured list and sent him to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

In a corresponding move to create space on the 40-man squad, right Ron Maraccio – who had been sent to Triple-A on September 6 – was designated for assignment.

Marinaccio, in his third year with the big league club after being a 19th-round pick in 2017, has appeared in 16 games for the Yanks this season, pitching to a 3.86 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 23.1 innings as a reliever. The 29-year-old allowed 11 runs (10 earned) on 18 hits and 10 walks with 25 strikeouts.

Poteet went on the injured list in early June with a right triceps strain and had been working his way back up through the minors since late August. With his rehab assignment complete, he was forced back to the 40-man roster, leaving Marinaccio in the numbers crunch.

In four starts for the Yanks this year, the 29-year-old Poteet threw a 2.14 ERA in 21 innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on 15 hits with seven walks and 13 strikeouts.

During his six rehab games in Double-A and Triple-A, he threw a 2.29 ERA in 19.2 innings with 22 strikeouts and five walks.
