Who won Jackson Metro Student of the Week from December 15 to 21? Find out here

Each week, the Clarion Ledger highlights the achievements of outstanding local high school students. Of the five nominees, only one can be Jackson Metro Student of the Week.

The votes are in.

With 61% of the vote, Canton High School’s Roelmer Matias is Clarion Ledger’s Jackson Metro Student of the Week for December 15-21.

Matias was also nominated for Student of the Week from September 15 to 21.

A junior at Canton High School, Matias demonstrates his growth mindset through his hard work, perseverance and ability to balance his schoolwork, by serving as a kicker on the school’s football team and through the genuine kindness and respect shown he shows to his peers and teachers.

Matias has also achieved several honors during his time at Canton High School and plays for the school’s football team.

You can vote to determine the next Jackson Metro Student of the Week. The polling stations open on Monday morning and close on Thursday afternoon. The winners will be announced on Friday.

Due to the winter break, there will be no Student of the Week election in the weeks 22 to 28 December and 29 December to January. 4.
