Today’s forecast
The weather today is calm, but cold. That will be the story in the New York City area for the next few days.
In fact, this morning it was 30 degrees in Central Park! That was the first time NYC dipped below freezing since March.
Temperatures won’t rise much on Saturday as they top out in the upper 30s this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Wind chills will struggle to reach the upper 20s and low 30s, with brisk west winds reaching 20 to 25 mph at times.
Tonight looks to be even colder, with temperatures in the low 20s in the Tri-State Area. For many, wind chills will be in the teens tomorrow morning!
Tomorrow
Another dry day is expected on Sunday with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will only be in the upper 30s, but will feel more like the 20s.
In fact, it looks like this first winter explosion will last through the entire first week of December.
Next week
Our next widespread risk of precipitation occurs Wednesday night into Thursday morning as a clipper system swoops down of the Great Lakes.
There may be a period of light snow, especially north and west of NYC. Currently, accumulations appear to be less than an inch, with some exceptions in the higher elevations of Sullivan and Ulster counties.
Of course that will take a few more days. So make sure you stay tuned as we continue to monitor it. Have a nice Saturday and stay warm!
