Biden’s bad week got worse after he said he’s proud to be the ‘first Black woman’ to serve in the White House

  • Biden described herself in an interview with radio station Wurd as the “first black woman.”

  • It comes just days after Biden’s disastrous debate with former president US President Donald Trump.

  • Biden reportedly said he needs to get more sleep and avoid holding events after 8 p.m.

Joe Biden’s argument that his disastrous performance at last week’s debate was a one-off appears to be falling apart.

In his latest verbal misstep, the president apparently said he is “proud” to be the first “black woman to serve with a black president.”

The 81-year-old president mixed up his words during an interview with Philadelphia radio station Wurd when talking about his Vice President, Kamala Harris.

“By the way, I’m proud to be, as I said, the first vice president, the first black woman… to serve with a black president,” he said.

Earlier in the interview, Biden rightly spoke about how he was the first president to have a black woman as vice president. He also discussed how he appointed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first black woman to reach the Supreme Court.

The debate comes just days after Biden’s debate with former US President Donald Trump, which was marked by verbal gaffes and confusing statements.

Biden is now under increasing pressure to withdraw from the presidential race. A Reuters/Ipsos poll found that one in three Democrats favored Biden’s departure.

Biden’s camp has offered multiple explanations for the president’s slurred language, nonsensical statements and blank stares, including jet lag, a cold and incompetent staff.

But donors have publicly expressed concerns about what they call Biden’s age-related issues.

On Thursday, millionaire heiress Abigail Disney announced she would no longer donate to the Democratic Party until they “get Biden off the top of the list.”

Her comments are reminiscent of those of Netflix founder Reed Hastings, who told The New York Times that “Biden must step aside so a strong Democratic leader can defeat Trump and keep us safe and prosperous.”

Biden has admitted to supporters that he no longer speaks as “smoothly” or debates as “well” as he used to, but he has publicly vowed to fight on.

Axios, citing people close to the president, said Biden worked best between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and struggled to function outside that window.

His spokesperson, Karine Jean-Pierre, admitted to reporters that “he is a little slower than before.”

According to CNN and The New York Times, Biden has told governors he needs more sleep and to stop holding events after 8 p.m.

Biden’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider about the reports.

Biden’s mental acuity will be put under the microscope on Friday during an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, who served as White House communications director during Bill Clinton’s presidency.

Biden’s previous meetings with Stephanopolous included a rare get-together in 2021 where he defended the US decision to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan.
